Complete dice slot glossary: understand all the essential terms
Dice slots occupy a special place in the world of online slot machines. Inspired by slot machines and often associated with modern mechanics, they combine chance with advanced features such as multipliers, dynamic grids and special symbols.
To understand how they work and avoid playing blind, it's essential to master the vocabulary used in the rules and game interfaces. This glossary covers the most common dice slot terms, explained simply.
The basics of dice slots
B
This optional feature allows you to directly purchase access to a bonus game (often free spins) for a fixed cost or multiplied by the stake. This option speeds up access to features, but also increases the financial risk.
A special feature triggered by a specific combination (often scatters), offering different mechanics to the main game.
C
This is a mechanism whereby winning symbols disappear after a win and are replaced by new symbols falling from the top of the grid. A single stake can thus generate several successive winnings.
It's a payout system based on groups of adjacent symbols rather than conventional paylines. A win is triggered when a minimum number of identical symbols touch.
D
A slot machine visually inspired by dice games. It often emphasizes pure chance, with variable multipliers, dynamic grids and non-linear payouts.
E
This is a wild symbol that expands to cover several squares (or even an entire row or column) when it appears, increasing the chances of forming winning combinations.
F
These are free spins awarded via a scatter symbol or bonus feature. During these rounds, certain mechanics can be modified (higher multipliers, additional wilds, special rules).
The maximum payout predefined by the game, which does not vary according to players' stakes.
G
The game structure on which the symbols appear. Unlike classic roller slots, many dice slots use fixed or evolving grids (e.g., 5x5, 6x6).
M
This is a factor that multiplies the winnings obtained. It can be fixed, random or cumulative, and is often applied during free spins or cascades.
P
The paths that indicate how the symbols must line up to form a win. On some slot machines, these lines are fixed, while other dice slots use clusters or grids without classic lines instead.
A jackpot fed by a portion of players' stakes, which gradually increases until it is won.
R
The theoretical percentage indicating the proportion of stakes redistributed to players over the long term. For example, an RTP of 96% means that the game pays out an average of €96 for every €100 staked.
S
Symbol that usually triggers free spins or a bonus, regardless of its position on the grid.
Wild that remains in place for several spins (often during a bonus), gradually increasing the winning potential.
Symbols occupying several consecutive squares on the grid, increasing the probability of forming clusters or combinations.
V
It is an indicator of the pace and distribution of winnings. Low volatility means frequent but modest winnings, while high volatility means rarer but potentially large winnings.
W
A joker symbol that replaces other symbols to complete a winning combination (unless otherwise specified in the rules).
